New Terrain AwardWhole Terrain, the nationally renowned literary journal of Antioch University New England, has established an annual award for outstanding undergraduate writers. We're seeking environmental essays from current undergraduates for this year's issue, (R)(e)volution. The writer of the winning essay will receive the New Terrain Award of $500 and have his or her work published in the upcoming issue. Whole Terrain is challenging college students to write a reflective essay considering some of the following questions: What roles do revolution, evolution or both play in crises facing the planet? Do you envision ways to solve the ecological, economic and/or social challenges of the twenty-first century? How radical should solutions to environmental problems be? What can the evolution of species teach us about long-term societal change? Do lasting solutions come through evolution or only through revolution? The deadline for submissions is Jan. 1, 2009. Entries should be sent using our online form. If you have questions or need assistance, please send us an email with the subject header "New Terrain Award Submission." To qualify for the award, you must be an undergraduate student in good academic standing, while submitting original work. This information will be verified for potential candidates. Manuscripts are not read anonymously. During the screening process, every manuscript is read by the entire editorial board in preparation for the finalist meeting where winners are chosen by consensus. In instances where an editorial board member is personally acquainted with an entrant the member is required to disclose the relationship before discussion. | ||||
